Plans change. At first the goal was to make an animated short linking favorite Nick characters, using classic videogames. But as the spot took shape, it became clear that the experience should be playable. So while we worked on the animated piece for broadcast, Nick made games using some of the same art. Fans watched and rewatched that first spot (dubbed Portal Chase: Save the Baby) to unearth plentiful easter eggs, cameos and references to beloved games. With more than 14 million YouTube views, Nick decided we should jump through that portal again. Portal Chase 2: Save the Pizza features a fun redesign of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and even bigger videogame thrills. After the new video saw similar success, Nickelodeon headed back to the portals in Portal Chase 3: Secret Formula Frenzy. Here again fans could see lots of crazy Nick character redesigns along with a boatload of blink-and-you-miss-em game references and easter eggs. Meanwhile throughout the process, Nick has built lots of actual, playable games. The trilogy has been very popular and a big success for the network. And trilogies are so epic! Chapter three is for sure the last one. Or is it?
