Old toys come alive to launch Boomerang. Casting by eBay. 2 BDA golds, BDA silver, Promax silver
In 2000, Cartoon Network spun off Boomerang - a new network for their older cartoons - and Primal Screen built the launch package. We actually explored a big, old warehouse where Hanna-Barbera Studio had stored several decades of cartoon toys. With meticulous care, the Primal Screen crew gave these playthings new life manipulating and animating them against vivid, jewel-tone backgrounds. Final scenes took inspiration from some of the toys' packages. In later rounds, Primal reproduced the look using CGI to imagine toys that never existed. The package is still in use today and new elements continue to be added in the original launch style.
